The digitalization of airspace is progressing rapidly. To allow you to fully concentrate on thermals and your route, we're working behind the scenes to provide the best possible protection. In addition to the proven FLARM reception (for early detection of gliders and other variometers), we are now focusing more on ADS-L.

What exactly is ADS-L?

Many of you are familiar with ADS-B from general aviation. ADS-L (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Light) is the new European standard specifically developed for "light" aviation – that is, for us paraglider and hang glider pilots, as well as glider pilots and drones.

Here's how it works: Unlike conventional systems, ADS-L is extremely energy-efficient and compact, yet offers a crucial safety advantage:

Precise positioning: Your location is continuously broadcast via radio.

Direct communication: Other air traffic users in your vicinity (who also use ADS-L or compatible systems) receive your signal directly – without any detour via mobile networks.

Collision warning: Your Skytraxx actively warns you of approaching aircraft. Since ADS-L is designed for integration into the European U-Space concept (the digitized airspace), you are also ideally equipped for future airspace regulations.

The combination of FANET, FLARM, and ADS-L makes the Skytraxx 5 and Skytraxx 5 mini the safest companions for your harness. We are proud to have integrated this complex technology so compactly that it won't weigh you down in flight, but will make all the difference in an emergency.
